Almost up to 200 page reads
This blog is approaching 200 page reads, Now that's not a staggering amount but its not too shabby. That means that 200 people have looked at my blog. Thats over 190 people without advertising, or any action by myself to drive any sort of traffic to here. Given that the blog has been up for over a year, but only really updated since my first ramble about breaking my blogging cherry that's a significant achievement.
So what have I learned so far?
Firstly a blog is easy to maintain if its close. If I have to do anything significant to update it then I won't do it. Call me lazy but I installed the blogger app on my ipad, for a week before actually using it. having the app on the ipad makes it easy to start a post, and then maybe update it later when I have a little more time.
Secondly I don't finish what I don't start. I decided to start a Blog over two years ago. uptill I started there were a lot of questions on how, what, why and when. Actually these are not really hurdles. As nike suggests in their adverts - Just do it. use the tools that make it easy, use a blog system that looks pretty, and write.
Thirdly, I'm not a great journalist I'm probably not going to make a lot of money blogging, but the benefit is in sitting down and reflecting on stuff. I have a lot going on every day, and a million excuses not to do this, but I also have benefited by sitting and writing these few posts. My raspberry pi project is still sitting in wait of my next move, but I know what my next move is because I wrote down what I was thinking. It may not be the most coherent but it makes sense to me. I may not have received many comments, from the web, but it has made a couple of conversations in real life which have clarified things. I'm nowhere as near as good a writer as my colleague "The Australian Canadian", but then my interests are different.
In conclusion, if you are sat there like I was a couple of years ago pondering to blog or not to blog, I suggest you write a bit of rubbish to break the seal of your creativity, don't worry about quality, try just putting something out there.
